Cricket is hugely popular in both India and Pakistan and whenever their cricket teams clash, fans from both countries become incredibly excited. In February, both teams are set to face off in the Champions Trophy 2025. This thrilling match will take place on February 23 in Dubai, UAE. While Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy 2025, the BCCI refused to send the Indian cricket team to Pakistan, resulting in the tournament being played on a hybrid model. As part of this model, all India’s matches will be held in the UAE. Before the Champions Trophy begins, let’s take a look at the record between India and Pakistan.
Pakistan Has Won More Matches
In the history of the Champions Trophy, India and Pakistan have played a total of 5 matches, with Pakistan winning 3 of them and India winning 2. Thus, Pakistan holds a lead in terms of the number of wins in the Champions Trophy. The Indian team was particularly hurt by their loss in the 2017 final, where Pakistan defeated them by 180 runs. Fakhar Zaman played a brilliant knock, scoring 114 runs in that match.

India’s First Win Against Pakistan in 2013
The first Champions Trophy match between India and Pakistan was held in 2004, in which Pakistan emerged victorious by 3 wickets. Mohammad Yusuf played an innings of 81 runs to guide Pakistan to victory. The second encounter between the two teams took place in 2009, and Pakistan won by 54 runs. India’s first win over Pakistan in the Champions Trophy came in 2013 under the captaincy of MS Dhoni, when India won by 8 wickets.
Both Teams Have Won the Champions Trophy Title
India won its first Champions Trophy title in 2002 under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly. However, the final match against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to rain, resulting in both teams being declared joint winners. Later, in 2013, India won the Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, defeating England in the final. India has won the Champions Trophy twice, while Pakistan has lifted the trophy once (2017).
