In the first ODI, India Women’s team defeated New Zealand Women’s (IND W vs NZ W) team by 59 runs. In the match played in Ahmedabad, India performed well in both bowling and batting. India had set a target of 228 runs for New Zealand to win. In reply, the Kiwi team was reduced to 168 runs. Deepti Sharma was adjudged Player of the Match. She scored 41 runs and also took one wicket.

On a batting-friendly pitch, India fall four wickets for 91 runs. However, after this, Jemimah Rodriguez and debutant Tejal Hasabnis together handled the Indian innings. Kiwi bowler Eden Carson has taken two wickets. Shafali Verma and Yastika Bhatia could not convert the good start into a big innings and were dismissed for 37 and 33 runs from the order. Captain Smriti Mandhana scored just five runs while Dayalan Hemalatha scored three runs.

The Indian team won the toss and decided to bat first. For India, Shafali Verma 33, Yashika Bhatia 37, Jemimah Rodrigues scored 35 runs. Debutant Tejal Hasibnis contributed 42 runs. In the end, all-rounder Deepti Sharma scored a brilliant 41 runs off 23 balls. With his fast batting, India gave the Kiwi team a target of 228 runs. For New Zealand, Amelia Carr took 4 wickets and Jass Carr took 3 wickets. Eden Carson took 2 wickets.

For New Zealand, Georgia Plimmer scored 25 and Lauren Down scored 26 runs. Brooke Halliday 39 and Maddy Green contributed 31 runs. Captain Sophia Devine could not play a big innings. She scored 2 runs. Emilia Carr showed her hands with the bat along with the bowling. She scored 25 runs, but she could not win her team.
