The Indian team faced a 3-1 defeat in the 5-match Test series during their tour of Australia. After this, news emerged about the form and indiscipline of several players. Following a review of the team’s poor performance on this tour, the BCCI has taken strict action and implemented 10 new rules.
One of the key rules is that all players are now required to play domestic cricket. Additionally, no player will be allowed to take their personal staff on foreign tours. The BCCI has also made it clear that players who do not follow these new rules will face disciplinary action, which could include a reduction in their central contract fees and a ban from playing in the IPL.
BCCI Implements 10 New Rules for Indian Men’s Team Players
1. Family Allowed to Join Tours for 2 Weeks Only
The family or wife of players can now stay with the team for only two weeks during foreign tours. No personal staff will be allowed to join the team. This rule applies to all team members, including the coach and support staff. Additionally, players are required to travel with the team from the hotel to the stadium for matches and practice sessions. Any exemptions will require approval from the chairman of the selection committee and the head coach.
2. Mandatory Participation in Domestic Matches
To be selected for the national team and maintain a central contract, players must participate in domestic matches. This will help maintain their match fitness and strengthen their skills while providing younger players a chance to learn from their experience. Exemptions can only be granted for special reasons with approval from the head coach and the chairman of the selection committee.
