The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be organized, with Pakistan hosting the tournament. However, Team India will play all of its matches in the UAE. While the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy has not been announced yet, it is expected to be revealed by January 19. India will play its first match on February 20.

Before the start of the tournament, a major issue has emerged for Team India. To address this, the BCCI is expected to make a significant decision, which could result in changes to the coaching staff.

The Indian cricket team recently excelled in bowling during the Australia tour, but batting remained a concern. As a result, Team India faced some defeats. In response, the BCCI is considering the addition of a new member to the coaching staff, particularly a batting coach. While no official announcement has been made, discussions between the BCCI and team management indicate a pressing need to strengthen the coaching team.

BCCI Considers Big Names for Batting Coach Position

According to a Cricbuzz report, several prominent names, including legendary domestic cricket batsmen, are under consideration for the position. However, no final decision has been made yet. Currently, Team India’s coaching staff includes Gautam Gambhir (head coach), Morne Morkel (bowling coach), Abhishek Nair (assistant coach), Ryan Ten Doeschate (assistant coach), and T Dilip (fielding coach). Therefore, Team India is seeking to appoint a batting coach.

Poor Batting Performance Raises Concerns

With the Champions Trophy approaching, there is an urgent need to improve the team’s batting performance. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, both underperforming during the Australia tour, have been the focal points of criticism from fans. Despite their reputations, both failed to deliver during the series. The coaching staff has raised concerns with the BCCI, but it remains uncertain whether the BCCI will proceed with the appointment of a new batting coach.
