Mohammad Kaif on Gautam Gambhir: Gautam Gambhir’s tenure as the head coach of the Indian cricket team has not proved to be as effective as expected. Under Gambhir’s coaching, India won the Test series against Bangladesh and the T20 series against Sri Lanka, but the 0-3 loss against New Zealand at home and the 1-3 loss in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy raised questions about his performance.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has made strong comments on Gautam Gambhir’s coaching and strategies. Kaif said that Gambhir has not yet reached the point where he can correct the technical problems of a senior player like Virat Kohli.

Kaif’s Sharp Criticism

Mohammad Kaif shared his thoughts in an interview, saying, “A good coach is someone who is strategically strong and can make the right decisions at the right time. Gautam Gambhir’s decisions regarding team selection have often been questioned. It is difficult for Gambhir to address Virat Kohli’s technical issues. He still needs time to improve his coaching skills.”

Concerns About the Press Conference

Kaif also commented on Gambhir’s press conference. He said, “What’s done is done, but Gambhir should have given a clear answer regarding the 0-3 loss at home to New Zealand and the strategic mistakes made in Australia. It’s not right to keep avoiding questions.”

India’s Upcoming Series

Team India has an important five-match T20 series against England from January 5 to February 2. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series between the two teams starting February 6. The England team will be touring India for both series.

Afterwards, Team India will travel to Dubai for the 2025 Champions Trophy. India’s group stage matches include a game against Bangladesh on February 20, Pakistan on February 23, and New Zealand on March 2.
