“I have played so much cricket in Mumbai, this is the place where I started my cricket career. So this city is very, very special. Obviously, when you play for such a long time, you create so many memories with the team”, Said Rohit Sharma after Mumbai Indians retains him.

“We havenβt had the best of the season in the last two or three years. But we are quite determined to change that… Since I have retired from the format, I think this is the perfect [retention] spot for me. The players who are representing the national team at the highest level should get the preference. Thatβs what I believe in and I am quite happy with it.”
The Mumbai base team has retained 5 players in which there is no uncapped player. Mumbai Indians has retained Jasprit Bumrah for the highest price i.e. 18 crores, Rs 16.35 crores for both captain Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav. At the same time, Rohit Sharma was retained by this franchise for Rs 16.30 crores. Mumbai released players like Ishan Kishan, Arjun Tendulkar, Piyush Chawla, Dewald Brevis, Tim David for the next season.
