IPL 2025 Mega Auction: Few days to go before the IPL 2025 mega auction. The franchises have to decide the name to the who are going to retain. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fixed the date of retention as October 31. New Zealand former cricketer Simon Doull has named the successor of former Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
According to the former cricketer, Chennai Super Kings can retain captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and veteran batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Speaking to Sports18, Dull said, “Ruturaj Gaikwad and then Ravindra Jadeja, I think Matheesha Pathirana can also be retained. I heard, MS say I’ll let you know the day before I get permission for retention. He is keeping a bit of doubt at the moment whether he will join the team or not. Obviously, if he is available and ready to play.”
Doull said that if Rishabh Pant comes in the auction, the franchise should spend big money to include him. He has the ability to carry Dhoni’s legacy forward. “After what I have seen in this series, I think Rachin Ravindra is the best. Apart from this, I think if CSK goes to the auction, they will bet heavily on Rishabh Pant. After MS Dhoni, he is the player who has taken CSK forward”, quoted Simon Doull.
“Ruturaj Gaikwad, then top of the tree Ravindra Jadeja absolutely there, Matheesha Pathirana, I think absolutely. I see MS come out and say that I will let you know the day before the retentions are allowed”, he said in the interview.
“He’s keeping them on a little bit of a string at the moment as to whether he is gonna be thereIfif he’s available and ready to go, he’s another one they have to keep a hold of. He’s the franchise man.”
