Although Pune had previously defeated Mumbai in Qualifier 1, the Mumbai Indians overcame Kolkata in Qualifier 2 to reach the final. In the championship match, the Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bat first, managing to score only 129 runs while losing 8 wickets in 20 overs, with Krunal Pandya contributing the highest score of 47 runs in the final five overs.
In a tense conclusion, Pune required just 11 runs in the last over with seven wickets remaining. However, in Mitchell’s over, Pune lost three wickets and could only muster 9 runs, finishing with a total of 128 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.
