After the heart breaking loss against Bangladesh, Pakistan drops fast bowling sensation Shaheen Afridi from the must win second test.
The decision has been taken after facing the heavy criticism from former Pakistan Cricketers on playing with four regular pacers in first test match. The former legend like Wasim Akram felt that playing with two spinner would be a better option.
In a post match press conference Pakistan’s head coach and former Australia legendary fast bowler Jason Gillespie said Shaheen understands the situation and he has been given a much needed break, which will give him quality time with his family.
“We had a good conversation with him and he fully understands we are looking at the best combination for this game and the last few weeks have been interesting for him with fatherhood and other things, this break will allow him to spend time with his family,” Gillispie said during the post -match press conference.
Former Australian pacer also said that Shaheen is working with Azhar Mahmood and this will give him a better game presence.
“The management wants to see him at his very best” he added.
He also felt that bowler needs to maintain it’s line and length and they have to remain ruthless in every Second of the game.
It is noticeable that Shaheen has played only six test matches since July, 2022 owing to a knee injury. He was rested for the final Test against Australia at Sydney in January this year.
