After Williamson, former batsman Ross Taylor holds the record for scoring the most runs in Test cricket for New Zealand. Taylor played for the Kiwi team from 2007 to 2022, participating in 112 matches. During this time, he scored 7683 runs in 196 innings at an average of 44.66.
Williamson reached the 9000-run mark in his 182nd innings, making him the eighth player in the world to score 9000 runs at the fastest pace in Test cricket. To date, a total of 19 batsmen have crossed the 9000-run milestone in Test cricket, with Kane Williamson now included in this prestigious list.

Kane Williamson has become the second-fastest player among the current Fab Four to score 9000 Test runs. Steve Smith holds the top spot, reaching 9000 runs in his 174th Test innings. Following Williamson, Joe Root achieved the milestone in his 196th innings, while Virat Kohli reached the figure in his 197th innings.
Williamson’s Consistency in Red-Ball Cricket
The 34-year-old former New Zealand Skipper has maintained remarkable consistency in the second half of his Test career. Since 2017, he has averaged over 50 in every calendar year, with an exceptional average exceeding 62 across 47 Tests during this period.
Williamson’s overall Test batting average is nearing 55, making him a standout performer among the Fab Four. He currently leads Joe Root (50.81) and Virat Kohli (48.13), while trailing only slightly behind Steve Smith (56.40).
