IND vs AUS 4th Test Update: Indian captain Rohit Sharma is currently batting at number 6 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) against Australia. He has sacrificed his opening spot for KL Rahul. So far, Rohit has scored just 3, 6, and 10 runs in two Tests. He missed the Perth Test due to the birth of his child. Meanwhile, young batsman Shubman Gill, who is batting at number three, hasn’t scored a big innings in a while.

Former Indian cricketer and commentator Aakash Chopra has given Rohit some advice. However, following it would mean a tough decision, and Gill may have to sacrifice his spot. Chopra suggested that Rohit could bat at number three instead of number six, with no harm in making this change.

The fourth Test of BGT will be played in Melbourne from December 26, and the series is currently tied at 1-1. A user asked Aakash whether Shubman Gill should be dropped in favour of Sarfaraz Khan. Chopra replied on his YouTube channel, “Nothing is going to happen from this. Honestly, this should not happen. I feel sorry for Sarfaraz, who could have played in Perth, but he was left out without a trial. I don’t think he will get a chance now.”

Chopra continued, “It has been 16 innings for Shubman Gill without scoring more than 40 runs outside Asia. You’re expecting a lot from him. But will there be a change in the team? No, there is no question of dropping Rohit. His batting order will likely remain unchanged. However, if Rohit feels like it, he can think about batting at number three and moving Gill down. There’s no harm in doing that.”

Rohit Sharma Acknowledges His Batting Struggles

Rohit Sharma himself admitted that his recent batting form has been average, but he remains confident about his game. After the third Test draw at the Gabba, Rohit provided an honest assessment of his performance and said, “I am not able to bat well. There is no harm in accepting this. But I know how I am preparing. There is no shortcoming in this, just need to stay longer at the crease and it will happen soon.”
