Rohit Sharma’s IPL future has been the biggest issue at Mumbai Indians before each of the 10 franchises of the Indian Premier League have to announced team retention. In December last year, the franchise surprised everyone by changing their captain. Now it was being speculated for a long time that the Indian captain would leave MI. Amid speculation, a fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore have asked Rohit which team he would be part of in the IPL.

Remember that Rohit was the captain of the Mumbai team between 2013 and 2023, during which the franchise won the IPL title five times and became the one of the most successful team in the league. However, looking at the future and Rohit’s lackluster performance with the bat in the last few seasons, Mumbai decided to make Hardik Pandya the captain for the 2024 season, which was a shocking move.

Meanwhile, it looks like the Mumbai franchise is keen on retaining Rohit Sharma. Along with Rohit, pacer Jaspreet Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are reportedly planning to continue in the team. Tilak Varma is also likely to be retained through the Right to Match card.

A significant change has been made in the team for the 2025 IPL. Paras Mambrey has been appointed as the bowling coach of his team. Paras Mambrey revealed that he will work with current bowling coach Lasith Malinga for the upcoming IPL season.

The Indian cricket board BCCI released its retention policy a few days ago, under which a team can retain 5 players and apart from that, a player can also play the Right to Match (RTM) card rule. The team can swap the number of retained and RTM players accordingly. Now all IPL teams have to submit their retention list to BCCI by 31 October.
