Sanju Samson has made his name in Indian domestic cricket. By scoring a lot of runs in the domestic circuit, he became one of the most popular cricket figures among Indian cricket fans. But his inconsistent batting always remains a concern. Though he proved himself again by scoring a century against Bangladesh. Now he has revealed a dressing story.
Sanju Samson told that he could not even make eye contact with head coach Gautam Gambhir in Team India’s dressing room. He told that when he failed in the first two matches of the T20 series against Bangladesh, it was difficult for him to make eye contact with the head coach. But then in the next match, he scored an aggressive century and then Gautam Gambhir was the happiest in the dressing room. Sanju Samson and Gautam Gambhir have a years-old relationship, which started with a cricket academy in Delhi.
Sanju Samson said in an interview, “As a child you wanted to impress Gautam Gambhir. He used to come to LB Shastri Cricket Academy. And then when I scored my first T20I hundred, Gautam Gambhir was the happiest person for me,”
Samson said, “When the coach trusts you and stands by you, you want to do well and prove the faith that the coach has shown in you. In the first two matches, I could not do well, so I was finding it difficult to make eye contact with Gambhir. But I told myself that my time will come. Then after that when I scored a century, Gautam Gambhir was clapping for me. I was very happy.”
When Sanju Samson failed in the first two T20 matches against Bangladesh, he was trolled a lot. But after this, the player created a stir by playing 111 runs in just 47 balls. Sanju hit 8 sixes and 11 fours in his innings. Sanju proved his talent. Now Sanju Samson will be seen in the T20 series against South Africa, which is scheduled to be held next month. Team India will play a series of four T20 matches on South Africa tour in November.
