Indian batsman Shreyas Iyer, who impressed with his performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, is now setting his sights on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Iyer, who has been batting at number four for a long time, scored 530 runs in 11 innings during the World Cup. Notably, no other player has scored over 500 runs in a World Cup while batting at number four or below.
As the Champions Trophy 2025 approaches, Iyer has expressed his willingness to bat at any position in the batting order. Although he is currently part of the ODI team, he has not been selected for the T20 team. Iyer is expected to get a chance to play in the upcoming three-match ODI series against England.
Ready to Represent India in the Champions Trophy
Since his debut in December 2017, Iyer has been a consistent performer in the Indian middle order. He has batted at various positions and has been one of the key players for the team. However, in the Champions Trophy, he will face competition from KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Sanju Samson for the middle-order spots. The team for the tournament has not been selected yet.

In a recent interview with ESPN Cricinfo, Shreyas Iyer stated, “I am flexible and ready to bat anywhere in the batting order.” He also mentioned his strong partnership with KL Rahul in the World Cup, saying, “KL Rahul and I played important roles in the middle order during the World Cup. We had a great season together. It was just the final against Australia that we couldn’t execute as planned.”
