New Delhi: Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill achieved a significant milestone in the IPL during his 38-run knock against Mumbai Indians. He completed 1,000 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, becoming the second-fastest batter in IPL history to achieve this feat at a single venue. Notably, he is also the first Indian to reach this landmark.

Gujarat’s Strong Start Against Mumbai

After losing the toss, Gujarat Titans were invited to bat first. Captain Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan opened the innings and built a solid 78-run partnership for the first wicket. Gill played a crucial knock of 38 runs off 27 balls, smashing four boundaries and one six before getting dismissed in the ninth over.

Second-Fastest to 1000 Runs at a Single IPL Venue

Gill reached the 1,000-run mark at Narendra Modi Stadium in just 20 innings. The record for the fastest 1,000 runs at a single venue in IPL belongs to Chris Gayle, who achieved this milestone in just 19 innings at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. However, Gill now holds the distinction of being the fastest Indian batter to reach this mark at a single stadium.

Gill’s Dominance at Narendra Modi Stadium

Gujarat Titans played their first-ever IPL match at Narendra Modi Stadium on April 8, 2022. Interestingly, in that match, Shubman Gill was dismissed for a duck. Before joining Gujarat, he played for Kolkata Knight Riders and had modest scores of 9 and 43 at this venue in IPL 2021. However, Gill’s fortunes changed in 2023 when he smashed a century (101 off 58 balls) against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the same stadium. Later that year, he produced a breathtaking 129-run knock against Mumbai Indians. Continuing his dominance, he registered another century (104) against Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024.

Out of his four IPL centuries, three have come at the Narendra Modi Stadium, making it his most successful venue. With his consistent performances, Gill has established himself as one of the most formidable batters in IPL history. Fans will now eagerly watch how he continues his incredible form in the upcoming matches.
