Former Team India cricketer Mohammad Kaif praised Indian team captain Rohit Sharma and batsman Virat Kohli ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025. He mentioned that we should forget what happened in the Test matches because Virat and Rohit are different players in white-ball cricket. Kaif stated that Virat Kohli does not accept defeat. He urged fans to support them as much as possible in the Champions Trophy, as Virat and Rohit may not play white-ball cricket for much longer. Kaif also highlighted how they bounced back to win the T20 World Cup just six months after losing the 2023 World Cup final.
Kaif Praises Virat Kohli’s Comeback and Importance in White-Ball Cricket
Mohammad Kaif shared his thoughts on his YouTube channel, saying, “Virat Kohli does not accept defeat; he always makes a comeback. Don’t write him off in white-ball cricket; the picture is still far from over. He has 50 ODI centuries and around 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. Forget what happened in the Test matches; he plays differently in white-ball cricket.”
Kaif Highlights Rohit Sharma’s Role as an Opener and Leader
Regarding Rohit Sharma, Kaif praised his ability to provide strong starts. He said, “Rohit gives you a solid start as an opener and as a leader. You need him in limited-overs cricket.”

Support for Virat and Rohit in the Champions Trophy
Kaif further emphasized the importance of both players in the Champions Trophy. “Rohit is turning 37, and Virat is 36. They won’t play for much longer, so whatever time they have left, support them and back them. These are two exceptional white-ball players who won’t be around for long. I believe they will perform well and contribute a lot in the Champions Trophy.”
The Key Role of Virat and Rohit in Winning Matches
Kaif also explained the vital role of Virat and Rohit in winning matches, especially in Dubai. “Rohit Sharma gives a fast start and builds the foundation. Virat Kohli takes advantage of that start and plays through to the end, scoring big. These two are key to India’s success in the Champions Trophy. Give them as much support as possible; they will have a big role to play.”
