Team India is heading for another final match of the World Test Championship. After the Test series against Bangladesh, India has to overcome the hurdles first set by New Zealand and then by Australia. Virat Kohli has always been an instrumental figure for India throughout the years. But his recent form is not up to the mark. Virat scored thousands of runs across all formats of cricket and achieved many records, but there are still some feats he would like to achieve.
Virat is struggling to score runs in all three formats. In the last eight innings, only one half-century has come out of his bat. In the first match between India and New Zealand, Virat Kohli will have a chance to complete 9000 runs. Virat is very close to completing 9,000 runs in Test cricket. Virat Kohli needs only 53 runs to complete 9,000 runs in the longest format of cricket. He can achieve the record in the Chinnaswamy Stadium.
If he manages to do so, he will become the fourth Indian batsman to score more than nine thousand runs in Test cricket. Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sunil Gavaskar have achieved this feat before. All over Virat will also become the 18th batsman to score 9,000 or more runs in Tests. Former India captain Virat Kohli has so far scored 8947 runs in his Test career, playing 115 matches, including 29 centuries and seven double centuries. He has also scored 30 half-centuries. His best individual score is 254. Ahead of the series against New Zealand, Indian cricket team coach Gautam Gambhir has praised Virat Kohli, saying that his hunger for runs remains the same as before.
Gautam Gambhir said, “my thoughts about Virat have always been very clear. He is a world-class cricketer. He has performed for such a long time. He is as hungry as when he made his debut”.
