Virat Kohli, IND vs AUS: Former cricketer and current cricket expert Ravi Shastri thinks that experienced batsmen Virat Kohli and Steve Smith might not have shown their full potential yet, but both players can exhibit formidable form in the last two Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), and both will be keen to accumulate runs.
Virat Kohli and Steve Smith belong to the renowned ‘Fab Four’, which also comprises Joe Root and Kane Williamson. Recently, both Kohli and Smith have faced difficulties with their batting. Nonetheless, both players have achieved a century in the first three Test matches of the current five-match series between India and Australia.
What Ravi Shastri has said?
Ravi Shastri remarked in the ‘ICC Review’, “In my opinion, they (Kohli and Smith) have fallen in the rankings due to their present form. Root is consistently accumulating runs, and Williamson is also performing better at the crease. Harry Brook has been outstanding for quite a while, and a few other young talents have also made an impression. Nonetheless, each of them is a top-tier player. In this scenario, it’s clear that they will pose a threat, as they are keen on making runs.”
He further stated, “You observed from Smith what was required. Although he might have faced challenges at first, he was prepared for disciplined and defensive batting. I feel the same way about Virat. If Virat manages to play for 30 to 40 minutes with discipline, I believe he won’t face any issues in scoring runs.
Series is now level at 1-1
The fourth BGT match between India and Australia will commence on Thursday, December 26. This game is scheduled to take place at Melbourne Cricket Stadium. Following three games, the series is now level at 1-1.
