Mohammed Siraj, LSG: The IPL 2025 season is set to commence on March 22. Mohammad Siraj has been excluded from the Indian national team, but he may have the opportunity to re-enter white-ball cricket through his participation in the IPL, as noted by Aakash Chopra. Chopra also remarked that while Washington Sundar is a talented player, he has not been receiving the recognition he deserves.

Preparations underway

Siraj has already begun his training with his new IPL franchise. Footage of him practicing with the Lucknow Super Giants has been shared online, including a video posted on LSG’s official social media channels, which readers can view within this article.

On his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra commented, “This represents a significant opportunity for Mohammed Siraj, who has been omitted from the Indian team for white-ball formats. He was not included in the Champions Trophy squad. The question arises: why was he overlooked? His name is not being mentioned in discussions about T20 selections. The Royal Challengers Bangalore also released him. The IPL presents a great chance for Siraj to make a comeback to the Indian team.”

He further stated, “Washington Sundar’s value seems to have diminished significantly, and I am unsure why. Although he was part of the Champions Trophy, he did not play a single match. He was with Hyderabad but did not receive an opportunity there either. He has been somewhat underrated. People are not acknowledging his abilities as they should. In my view, he is a capable player. While he may not excel as a finisher, he can bowl effectively during the powerplay and bat at the beginning. This is also a substantial opportunity for Washington Sundar.”

It is important to note that both Mohammad Siraj and Washington Sundar will represent Gujarat this season. Gujarat acquired Sundar for a modest sum of Rs 3.20 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction, while they invested Rs 12.25 crore in the seasoned fast bowler, demonstrating their confidence in his abilities.
