IPL 2025: The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), often referred to as the Maha Kumbh of cricket, has officially commenced. Players who were once teammates are now competing against one another. A notable instance of this rivalry occurred during the match between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Sunday. Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Deepak Chahar faced off, despite having previously played together on the same team. Chahar, a prominent bowler, was formerly with CSK but was released prior to the mega auction and is now a member of the Mumbai Indians. Following the match, the two were seen enjoying each other’s company, and a video of their interaction has gone viral on social media.
After the conclusion of the third IPL match, both teams gathered on the field to exchange handshakes. Dhoni and Rachin Ravindra were already present when Deepak Chahar approached Dhoni. In a lighthearted moment, the former captain playfully tapped Chahar with his bat from behind, prompting smiles from both players. This display of camaraderie elicited laughter from fellow players and fans alike, and the video has gained significant traction online.

It is worth noting that during the IPL mega auction, Mumbai acquired Deepak Chahar for ₹9.25 crore. He delivered an impressive performance in the match, scoring 28 runs off 15 balls and taking the wicket of Rahul Tripathi. After losing the toss, Mumbai batted first, managing to score 155 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, CSK successfully chased down the target, scoring 158 runs for six wickets in just 19.1 overs, thus securing the victory. This match marked a disappointing start for Mumbai, who played without their regular captain Hardik Pandya, and they have now lost their first match of the season for the 13th consecutive time since 2012.
