New Delhi: The countdown for the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has begun, with only four days left before the tournament kicks off on March 22. Ahead of the season, captains of all 10 IPL teams will gather at the BCCI headquarters for a pre-IPL meeting. Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant has gone viral for an amusing video circulating on social media.
Rishabh Pant Mimics Sunil Gavaskar’s Famous “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid” Rant
In the viral clip, Rishabh Pant can be seen angrily saying “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid”, making fans wonder whom he was scolding. However, the truth behind the video is completely different. The footage is from an advertisement shoot and is not related to any real-life incident.
Pant was actually imitating legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar, who had once lost his cool during a Test match. During India’s tour of Australia, Pant had played an irresponsible shot and got out during the third day of the fourth Test. Frustrated with Pant’s poor shot selection, Gavaskar, who was on commentary, repeatedly called it “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid.”
Pant, who was acquired by Lucknow Super Giants for ₹27 crore in the IPL 2025 auction, is now set to lead the franchise. He previously captained Delhi Capitals before moving to LSG.
