Gautam Gambhir reply to Ricky Ponting: Gautam Gambhir hits back at Ricky Ponting in a press conference. Gambhir had to face many questions related to team India before the Border Gavaskar Trophy. The former Australian team captain Ricky Ponting expressed his concerns over Virat Kohli’s form in Test cricket. Gambhir replied to ponting with style.

India head coach Gautam Gambhir, when asked about the former Australian cricketer’s comments, hit back at Ponting, saying he should focus on cricket in Australia. During the press conference in Mumbai on Monday before leaving for Australia for the upcoming much-awaited Test series against Australia, Gautam Gambhir said, “What does Ponting have to do with Indian cricket? I think he should think about Australian cricket and the important thing is that he should not have any concerns for Virat and Rohit. I think he’s an incredibly strong person. They have achieved a lot for Indian cricket and they will continue to achieve a lot in the future.”

Rohit has scored just 588 runs in 11 matches this year at an average of 29.40, while Kohli has scored just 250 runs in 6 matches at an average of 22.72 in 2024. Ricky Ponting recently expressed concern over Kohli’s form, saying that he has not seen any other player in the team last even after scoring just 2 centuries in 5 years.

There were reports in the media that Rohit could be out of the Perth Test. Gambhir was also asked similar questions and revealed that Bumrah will take charge of the team if regular captain Rohit Sharma is out of the series opener. “In the absence of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah will captain India in the Perth Test,”
