The season getting more bitter for the East Bengal FC fans. After playing six games in ISL 2024-25 season, they have zero point to joy. Tuesday East Bengal defeated by Odisha FC 2-1 at the Kaling stadium by goals from Roy Krishna and Mourtada Fall. Dimitrios Diamantakos put the ball to the net from a penalty after down to one goal by the Fijian straiker.

East Bengal was playing well against Odisha FC through the first half. But as soon as Roy Krishna gave Odisha FC lead by 1-0, EB’s momentum started to gone. Oscar Bruzon, East Bengal FC’s newly appointed coach disappointed to see his team created so many chances to score but most of those chances did not convert to goal.

“We did a beautiful job in the game, creating most of the chances, making Odisha FC have a lot of difficulty with the connection of the players in front. They could not connect a run of three or four passes, so at some point, they were just waiting for our mistake to run counterattacks”, Oscar said at the post match press conference.

“Unfortunately, in one counter, with something that we had been working on during the week, Roy Krishna, with his speed, was smart enough to find the interval between our left back and centre back and capitalize to get one goal… It’s a pity that we forgave or missed so many chances, and the moment they got the 1-0, it became much more difficult for us because they slowed the tempo of the game.”

East Bengal FC will have to shift their attention to the AFC Challenge League group-stage matches, schedule to play in Bhutan. This will provide them with a brief respite before they return to ISL action against Mohammedan SC on November 9.
