Speculations on IPL 2025 player retention are in full swing ahead of the Mega Auction. All franchises have to finalise their retainer players names by 31st. Royal Challengers Bengaluru, known for their heavy artillery batting line-up, are going to get a new look; reports suggest that only Virat Kohli is set to stay at RCB. All IPL teams can retain a maximum six players from their previous season IPL.
If the reports have to believe, then they going to retain only one player as Virat Kohli, leaving the rest of the five slots blank. RCB may have plans to recruit players from Karnataka to promote local talents. Virat Kohli, key player for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been with the team since the beginning of the Indian Premier League in 2008. If RCB only retains Virat, that means they are going to let the star players like Glenn Maxwell, Faf Du Plessis, and Mohammed Siraj go.
Karnataka has some young players to watch out for; Vyshak Vijay Kumar is one of them. Karnataka medium pace Vyshak Vijay Kumar comes in as a replacement for Rajat Patidar in RCB’s squad for IPL 2023. In his debut game for RCB, Vyshak took 3 wickets in his 4 overs only for 20 runs against Delhi Capitals. He can contribute his batting as well. Vyshak has domestic cricket century and fifties with his name. He is taking in wickets in the ongoing Ranji Trophy.
Another player from Karnataka RCB retained for IPL 2024 was Manoj Bhandage. He is an all-rounder who can be helpful to boost run rate and finish the match. Manoj Bhandage had played some crucial knock on the Maharaja Trophy yet to make his IPL debut. There are more players from Karnataka, marked positive impression in the Maharaja Trophy.
