Haryana farmers: Haryana CM Naib Saini has made many big announcements for farmers and livestock farmers while presenting the budget 2025. Farmers of the state will now be able to cultivate litchi, strawberry and date palm as well. Under the ‘Mera Pani-Meri Virasat’ scheme, farmers will now get an incentive of Rs 8 thousand per acre instead of Rs 7 thousand for giving up paddy cultivation. At the same time, the subsidy amount for stubble management has been increased to Rs 1200 per acre.

11 Centers of Excellence in Haryana

11 centers of excellence are already functioning in Haryana, while three more are under construction. At the same time, the government will now set up new centers of excellence for litchi cultivation in Ambala, strawberry in Yamunanagar and date palm cultivation in Hisar. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that this will increase the income of farmers and they will be able to move away from traditional farming to more profitable crops.

Quality seeds for crops

To ensure quality seeds for crops, seed testing labs will be set up in every district. Till now this facility was available only in Karnal, Panchkula, Sirsa and Rohtak. Now labs will be set up in the remaining 18 districts also under the Seed Certification Agency. Many districts in Haryana including Jhajjar, Rohtak, Dadri have the problem of saline and alkaline land. Last year 62 thousand acres of land was improved. This time the government has set a target to increase it to 1 lakh acres of land.

1. Encouraging Diversified Farming: Farmers in Haryana will now be able to cultivate litchi, strawberry, and date palms. This aims to shift away from traditional crops and boost income through more profitable alternatives.

2. Incentives for Paddy Substitution: Under the Mera Pani-Meri Virasat scheme, farmers who give up paddy cultivation will now receive an increased incentive of Rs 8,000 per acre (up from Rs 7,000).

3. Increased Subsidy for Stubble Management: The subsidy for stubble management has been raised to Rs 1,200 per acre, aiming to address environmental concerns and reduce the burning of stubble.

4. Centers of Excellence: Haryana currently operates 11 Centers of Excellence, with three more under construction. New centers dedicated to litchi, strawberry, and date palm cultivation will be set up in Ambala, Yamunanagar, and Hisar, respectively. These centers aim to promote modern, high-value farming.
