Haryana shortage of wate: Due to the low storage capacity of the water tanks of Rewari city, there is always a shortage of water whether it is winter or summer. In case the canal water does not arrive on time, the people of the city have to yearn for every drop of water.
For a decade
For a decade, the Public Health Department has been supplying water on alternate days due to low storage capacity. The problem becomes even more severe when there is a delay in the supply of canal water.
People have to order water
People have to order water campers and tankers to quench their thirst. Since the water stopped coming in the canal on February 12, the Public Health Department is supplying water every alternate day.
According to the officials, water will be released in the JLN canal from Khubdu Head in two to four days. They say that according to the schedule, water was to come by March 8, but water has not been released yet. Regarding the water problem, the Public Health Department is continuously looking for land for a new water works, but has not been successful yet.
Canal likely to arrive in two-four days
At present, the Public Health Department is managing by collecting water from tube wells. Junior Engineer of the department Hemant Kumar said that all efforts are being made to ensure that the people of the city do not face any problem of water. Water is being collected from other tube wells. Water is likely to reach the canal only after two to three days. He has appealed to the people to use water as per their need. If water is released in the canal on Monday night, it will reach Rewari JLN on the evening or morning of March 19. After this, the work of filling the tanks will be started and water supply will be streamlined from March 21.
Lack of tanks to store water
The department is facing a huge shortage of tanks to store water. There are five water tanks in Kalaka Water Works and three in Lisana. Considering the capacity of both the water works plants, it is not easy to meet the water demand in the city. For this, a new water works with at least four water tanks is required. The department needs at least five acres of land to build a water works.
The five tanks of Kalaka Vata Works have a capacity of 950 gallons of water storage, while the capacity of two water tanks of Lisana is 340 gallons and the water storage capacity of a new water tank is 32 crore 640 lakh liters.
Earlier the schedule of canal water was of 16-16 days. That is, water used to come in the canal for 16 days and the canal remained closed for 16 days. Now for the last 3 years the schedule has become 16-24. Now water comes in the canal for 16 days and remains closed for 24 days.
