6th Pay Commission: Good news for lakhs of state govt employees and pensioners. The Punjab government has revealed plans to settle the outstanding payments for beneficiaries of the Sixth Pay Commission. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema has rolled out a scheme to disburse a total of Rs 14,191 crore. This initiative will directly benefit around six lakh employees and pensioners. The Finance Minister mentioned that these payments will commence within the current financial year. He emphasized that state employees are essential to our administration, and their welfare is a top priority for the Mann government. Previous administrations had overlooked the rights of employees, but the Mann government is taking strong measures to address their long-standing issues.

Launch of the Pension Service Portal

During the budget session, there was a strong emphasis on supporting pensioners. The Finance Minister announced the introduction of the Pension Seva Portal, designed to streamline the pension process. Approximately three lakh pensioners will benefit from this new portal, which will also address public grievances.

Support for the elderly and disabled continues with Rs 6,175 crore allocated
The budget ensures that pensions for the elderly, widows, destitute women, orphans, and disabled individuals will remain in place. The government has set aside Rs 6,175 crore for this purpose.

 

During the recent budget session, officials emphasized that creating job opportunities for the youth is their top priority. To support this goal, they’ve allocated Rs 230 crore for employment generation, which is a significant increase from the previous budget. This funding will allow for more employment fairs to take place across Punjab.

Last time around, 85,248 candidates found jobs through 1,468 employment fairs, and 24,345 individuals received loans for self-employment. Since April 2022, 51,655 people have been issued appointment letters through regular government recruitment. The Finance Minister also noted that this financial year, 22 cadets have joined various academies, 18 have been commissioned as officers, and 47 cadets achieved a remarkable 74.60 percent pass rate in the NDA examination, the highest in the nation.
