There is big news for pensioner’s. The Bhajanlal government in Rajasthan has decided to push back the deadline for the physical verification of 91 lakh social security pension recipients. In response to a question from MLA Radheshyam Bairwa during the assembly session, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Avinash Gehlot assured that the state government is committed to ensuring that no eligible beneficiary misses out on their pension. The new deadline for verification is now set for March 31.

Currently, there are 14 lakh verifications still pending. To give you some context, under various schemes like old age pension, single women pension, special pension for disabled individuals, and farmer old age pension, a total of 91 lakh people are receiving benefits in the state. However, recent reports indicate that only 73 lakh have completed the verification process, leaving about 14 lakh still needing to be verified. This figure was previously reported as 18 lakh, but the government has since updated it to 14 lakh.

It’s important to note that physical verification is required every year in November. This year, the verification period has been extended to March 31 to allow more beneficiaries to complete the process and ensure their pensions continue without interruption. Minister Avinash Gehlot emphasized that the goal is to achieve over 95% verification of beneficiaries on time, so no one is left without their pension.

A lot of beneficiaries in Jaipur are facing issues

Reports indicate that over 50,000 beneficiaries haven’t been verified across 13 districts in the state. In some key areas, the numbers are pretty high: 600,000 in Jaipur, 86,000 in Jodhpur, 61,000 in Jalore, 70,000 in Udaipur, and 90,000 in Bhilwara. Additionally, there are 3,216 beneficiaries over 90 years old who urgently need their pensions, but they’re caught in this verification mess.

The government is committed to helping with the verification process

They’ve made it clear that anyone who doesn’t complete their verification by March 31 will have their pension temporarily halted. However, the government is doing its best to provide ample chances for verification so that no eligible person misses out on this support.

To get verified, beneficiaries need to visit the nearest e-Mitra center or the Social Justice and Empowerment Department office with their Aadhar card, pension passbook, and any other required documents.
