The Infinix GT 10 Pro burst onto the scene with a bold design and gaming-focused features, targeting budget-conscious players. But does it deliver an experience beyond just high-octane mobile battles? We spent some time with the device to find out.

Design & Display: Glowing Edges and Smooth Scrolling

The GT 10 Pro grabs attention with its unique design. The back flaunts a sleek, geometric pattern accentuated by glowing LED strips that illuminate during charging, notifications, and even while playing games. It’s a conversation starter, but some might find it a bit too flashy. The phone feels solid in hand despite its plastic construction, thanks to its IP53 rating for dust and water resistance.

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display shines bright with a 120Hz refresh rate, making everything from games to everyday tasks feel smooth and responsive. The 10-bit color depth produces vibrant visuals, although color accuracy could be better. Auto-brightness works well, and the peak brightness delivers good outdoor visibility.

Performance & Gaming: Capable Powerhouse (With Caveats)

The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset inside the GT 10 Pro delivers solid performance for daily tasks and multitasking. It handles demanding games like Genshin Impact at medium settings with decent frame rates. However, pushing to higher settings or newer titles like Diablo Immortal can lead to frame drops and occasional stutters. The phone doesn’t get excessively hot during extended gaming sessions, thanks to its cooling system.

Software features like “Panther Engine” and “Monster Game Kit” aim to enhance the gaming experience by optimizing performance and providing tools like screen recording and macros. However, some functionalities felt gimmicky, and game compatibility might be limited.

Cameras: Not a Photography Champion

The 108MP main sensor might sound impressive, but the reality is less exciting. Photos taken in good lighting can be decent, but detail and dynamic range suffer in low-light conditions. The secondary lenses, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor, are mostly forgettable. The 32MP front-facing camera captures selfies that are good enough for social media, but again, excel in ideal lighting conditions.

Battery & Charging: Fast Fueling, Long-Lasting Power

The 5000mAh battery provides ample power for a full day of moderate use, even with some casual gaming. The 45W fast charging replenishes the battery quickly, reaching 50% in around 20 minutes.

Software & UI: Clean Experience with Bloatware Concerns

The GT 10 Pro runs on XOS 12.0 based on Android 12, offering a relatively clean and bloatware-free experience. However, some pre-installed apps and occasional notifications can be intrusive. Thankfully, most can be uninstalled.

Verdict:

The Infinix GT 10 Pro offers a compelling package for the price. The smooth display, capable performance, long battery life, and fast charging make it a strong contender in the mid-range segment. The gaming-centric features are a bonus, but dedicated gamers might find limitations in sustained performance and game compatibility. Ultimately, if you prioritize raw performance for everyday tasks and some casual gaming, the GT 10 Pro is a good option. However, if you’re a serious mobile gamer, you might want to explore other options offering dedicated triggers, better-sustained performance, and wider game compatibility.
