Launching today, March 25th, 2024, in India, the Poco C61 is the latest entry in Poco’s budget-friendly C series. Aimed at users looking for a smartphone that prioritizes core functionalities at an affordable price, the Poco C61 offers a large display, a long-lasting battery, and a capable processor, making it a strong contender in the budget segment.

Large Display for Everyday Use

The Poco C61 boasts a sizeable 6.71-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 720 x 1650 pixels. While not the sharpest, the screen provides ample real estate for consuming media, browsing the web, and gaming. The display refreshes at 90Hz, offering a smoother experience compared to the standard 60Hz displays found in many budget phones. This results in smoother scrolling and animations, enhancing the overall user experience.

Capable Performance for Everyday Tasks

At the heart of the Poco C61 lies the MediaTek Helio G36 processor. This octa-core chipset is designed for everyday tasks and can handle basic gaming, social media browsing, and video streaming without breaking a sweat. It’s paired with 4GB of RAM, which can be virtually expanded by an additional 6GB for improved multitasking capabilities. While it won’t be suitable for power users or those seeking a gaming powerhouse, the Poco C61 provides adequate performance for most day-to-day activities.

Long-lasting Battery Life

One of the Poco C61’s biggest strengths is its massive 5000mAh battery. This large capacity battery should easily last a full day on a single charge, even for moderate users. While some sources claim 18W fast charging, Poco has not officially confirmed this specification. The phone is reported to support only 10W wired charging, which is a bit slow by today’s standards.

Camera System Focused on Essentials

The camera department on the Poco C61 is rather basic. The rear setup features an 8-megapixel primary sensor accompanied by a secondary 0.08-megapixel sensor, which likely serves depth-sensing purposes. While it won’t capture award-winning photos, the primary sensor should suffice for casual snapshots and video calls. The front-facing camera comes in at 5 megapixels, allowing for basic selfies and video chats.

Software and Storage

The Poco C61 is expected to launch with Android 13, the latest version of Google’s mobile operating system. This ensures users have access to the newest features and security updates. Storage options are yet to be confirmed, but rumors suggest a base variant with 64GB of internal storage, expandable via a microSD card slot for additional storage needs.

Design and Build

Poco hasn’t revealed much about the Poco C61’s design. Based on leaks, it appears to sport a waterdrop notch display and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. Construction is likely plastic, which is typical for phones in this price range.
