Skoda Auto India is revving up its engines for the Indian market, announcing the launch of an all-new compact SUV in the first half of 2025. This strategic move marks the brand’s next big step, following the success of the Kushaq and Slavia models.

A Game-Changer for the Compact Segment:

This sub-4-meter SUV, yet to be named, aims to be Škoda’s entry point into the crucial compact segment, which comprises over 50% of all vehicle sales in India. By adhering to the sub-4-meter size restriction, the car benefits from excise duty advantages, allowing Škoda to offer competitive pricing to customers.

Designed and Developed for India:

Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, the new SUV joins the Kushaq and Slavia as the third Škoda car specifically created for the Indian market. This platform, co-developed in India and the Czech Republic, prioritizes:

  • High localization: A large portion of the car’s parts and components will be sourced from within India, supporting local businesses and ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Low cost of ownership: This translates to affordable maintenance and running costs, making the SUV an attractive proposition for Indian buyers.
  • Quick turnaround times: The platform allows for efficient production, ensuring a steady supply of vehicles to meet market demand.

Safety First:

The MQB-A0-IN platform has already proven its stellar safety credentials. Both the Kushaq and Slavia secured a perfect 5-star rating for adult and child occupant protection in Global NCAP crash tests, making them the first cars in India to achieve this feat under the stricter test protocols. This commitment to safety is sure to be carried forward in the new compact SUV as well.

Engaging Customer Participation:

To further connect with the Indian audience, Škoda Auto India has launched the #NameYourSkoda campaign.

This initiative allows customers to participate in the naming process by suggesting their choices alongside a selection of pre-registered names. The final name, chosen through this interactive approach, will be revealed later this year.

A Stepping Stone for Global Expansion:

The Indian market plays a vital role in Škoda’s Next Level Strategy. The brand aims to:

  • Sell 100,000 Škoda vehicles annually in India by 2026.
  • Become the leading European car brand in India by 2030.
  • Contribute to a 5% market share for all Volkswagen Group brands in India by 2030.

Furthermore, Škoda leverages its Indian production base to export vehicles to the ASEAN and Middle East regions, showcasing its commitment to global expansion.

Škoda’s all-new compact SUV promises to be a game-changer in the Indian market. With its focus on localization, safety, customer engagement, and global ambitions, this car is poised to be a major success story for Škoda Auto India.
