The Indian motorcycle scene is witnessing a surge in adventure bikes, catering to the growing desire for exploring off-road trails and long-distance journeys. This article delves into three highly anticipated motorcycles – the Hero Xpulse 210, the 2024 KTM Adventure 390, and the upcoming Honda adventure bike – providing a comprehensive overview of their features, potential, and what sets them apart.

1. Hero Xpulse 210: A Powerful Upgrade

The Hero Xpulse 210 is poised to be a significant upgrade from its predecessor. Its biggest highlight is the new 210cc engine, borrowed from the Karizma XMR. This liquid-cooled engine promises a bump in power and torque, delivering 25.15 bhp and 20.4 Nm, respectively. We can expect Hero to fine-tune the engine for a more robust low-end torque delivery, ideal for tackling challenging terrains.

The Xpulse 210 retains the reliable formula of a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, along with long-travel suspension, ensuring superior off-road capability. Expect subtle cosmetic changes, potentially new color options, and a digital speedometer with navigation assist for added convenience. While the current Xpulse 200 starts at Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom), the 210cc version will likely come at a premium.

2. 2024 KTM Adventure 390: Sharper, Meaner, More Powerful

The 2024 KTM Adventure 390 has been generating a lot of buzz with numerous spy shots capturing its aggressive new design. It boasts a sleeker and meaner appearance, featuring a taller windscreen, sharper fuel tank extensions, and a high-rise front fender. The dual vertically stacked projector headlamps and a seemingly higher instrument console further enhance its visual appeal.

The heart of the beast is the new LC4c 399cc single-cylinder engine, borrowed from the latest Duke 390. This engine pumps out 47 bhp and 39 Nm of torque, offering a significant power upgrade compared to the previous model. While KTM is known for its performance-oriented machines, riders are hoping for adjustments to the engine tuning to provide more low-end torque, crucial for off-road adventures.

The 2024 Adventure 390 retains the signature trellis frame design, but with a different sub-frame for a sleeker look. Other notable features include an offset monoshock at the rear, a potentially different swingarm, a single-piece contoured seat, and adjustable suspension with increased travel at the front. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel configuration remains, ensuring off-road prowess. The expected price tag is speculated to be around Rs 3.80 lakh (ex-showroom).

3. Honda Adventure Bike: A New Entry-Level Contender

Honda is making a strategic move by entering the entry-level adventure bike segment in India with a brand new motorcycle. Based on leaked design patents, the bike bears a striking resemblance to the Royal Enfield Himalayan, featuring a tall windscreen, high-rise front fender, and spoked wheels.

The rumored engine is the 348.36cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled unit from the CB350, generating 21 bhp and 29 Nm of torque. While the power figures might seem modest compared to its competitors, Honda might tweak the engine tuning and potentially add a sixth gear to suit the adventure riding style and improve touring capabilities.

Each of these upcoming motorcycles caters to different riding styles and budgets. The Hero Xpulse 210 offers a powerful upgrade for budget-conscious riders seeking a competent off-roader. The KTM Adventure 390 appeals to performance enthusiasts who crave a powerful and aggressive machine for conquering challenging terrains. Finally, the Honda adventure bike, with its potential affordability and air-cooled engine, might attract riders seeking a comfortable and fuel-efficient option for exploring diverse landscapes.
