Delhi: A wave of chilly winds and a western disturbance have brought back winter’s embrace to Delhi. Brace yourselves, Delhiites, as the next four days are expected to witness colder temperatures, marking a significant shift from the recent pleasant weather.

Let’s delve deeper into the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast and understand what to expect in the coming days.

Chilly Mornings and Evenings, Relief During the Day

While the days will offer a welcome respite from the harshness of winter, prepare for nippy mornings and evenings.

The minimum temperature is predicted to hover around 9-11 degrees Celsius, ensuring a need for extra layers. However, the afternoons will offer some relief with sunshine gracing the city, pushing the maximum temperature up to a range of 25-28 degrees Celsius.

Tuesday Breaks a Record with Low Temperatures

Delhi witnessed a record-breaking cold spell on Tuesday, with the maximum and minimum temperatures dipping a significant four degrees below normal.

The maximum temperature settled at a low 23.4 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest recorded temperature since 2015 (23.0 degrees Celsius on March 5th). Even the minimum temperature surprised residents, dropping to a chilly 9 degrees Celsius, the lowest in 13 years!

Wednesday’s Forecast: A Mix of Sunshine and Clouds

Looking ahead, Wednesday is expected to offer a mix of sunshine and clouds. The weather department predicts partly cloudy skies with some sunny intervals.

While the minimum temperature may still feel nippy at around 10 degrees Celsius, the day will provide a slight reprieve with a maximum temperature of approximately 26 degrees Celsius.

Gradual Rise in Temperatures Expected from March 10th

Thankfully, there’s light at the end of the tunnel! The good news is that the IMD predicts a gradual rise in temperatures from March 10th onwards.

The maximum temperature is expected to reach a comfortable 29 degrees Celsius on March 10th and further climb to 30 degrees Celsius on March 11th, marking a welcome return to warmer weather.

Air Quality Remains in Moderate Category

While the weather brings back a touch of winter, Delhi’s air quality remains in the moderate category. The overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of Delhi was recorded at 127 on Tuesday.

However, some areas like NSIT Dwarka experienced moderate to poor air quality with an AQI of 201. Fortunately, several areas also enjoyed satisfactory air quality with AQIs below 100. The IMD forecasts the air quality to remain in the moderate category for the next three days.

Conclusion: Embrace the Layers, Enjoy the Sunshine!

While the next four days in Delhi will offer a taste of winter’s return with chillier mornings and evenings, residents can find solace in the sunny afternoons and the promise of warmer temperatures soon.

So, Delhiites, don’t forget to layer up during the cooler hours, but also step out and enjoy the sunshine when the opportunity arises! Remember, spring is just around the corner!
