Maruti Suzuki Wagon R: The country’s number 1 hatchback car Maruti Suzuki WagonR can now also be purchased from Canteen Stores Department (CSD). This news is a relief news for the soldiers serving in the country’s army, paramilitary forces and police force. GST on WagonR in CSD will be reduced from 28% to 14%. This means that the soldiers will now have to pay much less tax on this car.

What is CSD?

Canteen Stores Department (CSD) is a government body that provides goods and services to defense personnel and their families at concessional rates.

The price of LXI trim of WagonR in the showroom is up to Rs 5,54,500, while the price of this car on CSD starts from Rs 4,63,165. In this way, tax of Rs 91,335 is easily saved on the base variant. Depending on the variant, tax of about Rs 1,09,125 can be saved on this car.

Safety Features?

Talking about safety features, it has ABS with EBD with dual front airbags, hill-hold assist reverse parking sensor in AMT variants. Apart from this, power windows, power steering, manual air conditioning, steering wheel with semi-digital instrument cluster are seen.

Powertrain?

Maruti Wagon R gets two engine options, which include 1.0-liter petrol and 1.2-liter petrol engines. Which are capable of generating output of 67PS/89Nm and 90PS/113Nm respectively. It has the option of 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT transmission. While the CNG version only has the option of 5-speed manual transmission.

Mileage

Talking about mileage, its 1-litre petrol engine manual transmission variant gives a mileage of 23.56 kilometres per litre, the 1-litre petrol AMT variant gives a mileage of 24.43 kilometres per litre, the 1.2-litre petrol manual variant gives a mileage of 24.35 kilometres per litre, the 1.2-litre petrol AMT variant gives a mileage of 25.19 kilometres per litre and the 1-litre petrol-CNG variant gives a mileage of 34.05 kilometres per kilogram.
