Weather Forecast: IMD Issues Extremely heavy rainfall in these states until May 23rd

Weather Update: While on one hand the scorching heat continues in North India, on the other hand it is raining heavily in many states of South India.

According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), the south-west monsoon is advancing rapidly and there may be rain in many parts of the country in the next few days.

The temperature has gone above 45 degrees Celsius in states like Delhi-NCR, UP, Bihar, Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. The strong sunlight and heat waves have made life difficult for people. IMD has issued a red alert in these states and advised people to avoid leaving their homes.

Heavy rain in South India

Heavy rains are occurring in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in South India. IMD has issued orange alert in these states and advised people to remain alert.

The south-west monsoon is advancing rapidly and many parts of the country may receive rain in the next few days. According to IMD, monsoon may reach Kerala by June 1 and after that it will gradually spread across the country.

To avoid the scorching heat, people should avoid going out of the house. Umbrella, sunscreen and water should be used while going out. Light colored clothes should be worn. Adequate amount of water should be drunk. One should stay in a safe place during rain. One should be prepared to avoid disasters like floods and landslides.
