Big Gift to 8.50 lakh employees-pensioners, 2% DA increased

DA Hike: Good news for lakhs of state government employees. Now govt again increased the dearness allowance. Recently the central government increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 2%, after which the DA has increased from 53% to 55% from January 2025. After the center, now the state governments have started increasing DA.

After Rajasthan, UP and Assam, now the Mohan Charan Majhi government of Odisha has also increased the dearness allowance of its employees and pensioners. According to an official release from the Chief Minister’s Office, it has been decided to increase the DA/DR of employees and pensioners by 2%, after which DA has increased from 53% to 55%.

The new rates will be applicable from January 1, 2025. This will benefit 8.5 lakh employees and pensioners of the state. Employees will get the increased amount in May along with the salary of April. The new rates will be applicable from January 2025, so the arrears of January, February and March will also be given in May along with the salary of April.

This increase will be done under the 7th Pay Commission. Earlier in October 2024, the Mohan Charan Majhi government of Odisha had increased the DA of employees and pensioners by 3% from July 2024, after which the DA increased from 50 to 53%.

The Union Cabinet approved a 2% increase in dearness allowance (DA) for central government employees. This big decision has been taken by the government in the Union Cabinet meeting. With this increase, now the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees and pensioners and dearness relief (DR) of pensioners will increase from 53 percent to 55 percent. This increase has been made under the 7th Pay Commission.

The last increase was in July 2024, when dearness allowance was increased from 50 per cent to 53 per cent. Now an increase of 2 per cent has been made, after which an additional 2 per cent dearness allowance will be added to the basic salary of the employees. This increase will be considered effective from January 1, 2025. The increase in dearness allowance will benefit crores of employees and pensioners.
